Ms. Irene Nakasiita is a seasoned Communications and Public Relations professional with over 16 years of progressive experience spanning humanitarian, development, and corporate sectors. She currently serves as the President of the Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), where she leads efforts to elevate the standards, visibility, and influence of the PR profession both nationally and across the African continent. Irene also serves as the Director of Communications, Resource Mobilisation, and Strategic Partnerships at the Uganda Red Cross Society, where she has led transformative communication and reputation management initiatives that have repositioned the organization as a trusted humanitarian leader for the last 9 years. Her visionary leadership was instrumental in developing and executing a rebranding strategy that successfully restored public confidence in the Red Cross after a major PR crisis that occurred 10 years ago.
Throughout her career, Irene has worked with leading international and local organizations, including World Vision (Uganda & USA), Compassion International Uganda, and Pincer Group International. She has extensive experience in strategic communication design, media engagement, stakeholder management, brand development, and institutional resource mobilization.
As a passionate advocate for ethical and impactful communication, Irene has built durable partnerships with government institutions, civil society, and the private sector, driving initiatives that strengthen organizational credibility and sustainability. She is also a mentor and coach to emerging PR professionals, championing professional growth, innovation, and inclusion within the communication industry.
Irene’s leadership philosophy centers on authentic communication, collaboration, and purpose-driven storytelling values she continues to advance through her role at PRAU and her broader engagement in Africa’s PR community.
